Prim Perfect Taverna

Prim Perfect Taverna

The Home and Garden Expo has finished but here’s a picture from there again, of ourtaverna. And that’s because today’s Designing Worlds show is coming from the Expo.  More details will be emerging later (so watch the blog) but to get us into the mood, there’s the jigsaw!

The Expo was a great success and has so far raised over US$30,300 (that’s nearly L$7,600,000). It’s a fantastic outcome for a week of selling virtual goods and pets … but there were other huge pluses too, with the talks and the classes, and the opportunities for people to discover that they could become a part of this – and to discover their inner creativity.

You can find out more on tonight’s Designing Worlds show. But first … let’s do a jigsaw!

Lantern Ceremony

Lantern Ceremony

And so the Home and Garden Expo is drawing to a close – and it’s been amazing.  If you haven’t been to visit yet, do get over there today.

The last of the Prim Perfect talks was last night. We’ve had a great range of designers taking part in talks and panels and some fascinating issues were discussed – mesh and materials being very popular!  In fact, Max Graf has been inspired to post his thoughts on materials – which you can read here.

The talks have finished, but there will be one final Lantern Ceremony today at 4pm, when we pause to reflect, to remember those we have lost, and to celebrate those still with us, as we watch the beautiful lanterns, designed by Alchemy Immortalis, rise into the night sky.

And hence today’s jigsaw. Do it – and do come and join us if you can.

Throughout the Home and Garden Expo, Prim Perfect has been running a series of talks at the Prim Perfect Temple on Home Expo 6. – and today is th elast day, with two final speakers.

Saffia will be talking to Dante Spectre of the Dwarfins at 3pm, and at 5pm, she will be talking to namssab1nad piers of Lumiere (fortunately for Saffia, he’s happy to be called Nams!).

Meet the Dwarfins!

Meet the Dwarfins!

The Dwarfins are a very popular form of breedables although – as I hope we will will learn – they do not breed as such but co-create other Dwarfins. At the Fantasy Faire, Dwarfins were amongst the most popular collectibles at the auction – and that’s a trend that is continuing! We’ll be learning more from their scripter, Dante Spectre – and hopefully finding out all about the garden!

Meet the Designer: Nams of Lumiere

And at 5pm, in our final talk, namssab1nad piers will be talking about his store, Lumiere – and all things light, we hope!

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Make sure you don’t miss the last two occasions of our daily lantern ceremony at 4pm, when we invite people to join us at the Prim Perfect platform on Home Expo 6 every day of the Expo at 4pm SLT for a communal release of lanterns both to celebrate the living and in memory of those we have loved and lost.
San Marino House
San Marino House
I think it’s not secret that I am a fan of European architecture (and where is the Umgebindehaus of my dreams, eh?). This year I am loving the Italian style of Pamela Galli’s San Marino House. It’s whhat we expect of Pamela’s La Galleria: cool, stylish, elegant – and mesh – the last of which pretty much goes without saying at the Expo. Beautiful arrangement of rooms for living – as usual, with a house I like, I started picturing the family. A family home, but not children. An elegant professional couple, probably – mother a lawyer, father maybe an academic. Or senior police (I am watching too many Euro cop dramas … ).  Son … at university, or just post university. Still living at home … but probably heading off to see a girlfriend in the city …
It’s definitely the kind of home that inspires stories.
You’ll find it on Home Expo 3.
After you’ve done the jigsaw.
Prim Perfect May 2013 - Cover
Prim Perfect May 2013 – Cover
Welcome to our special garden issue and more of our new range of features in Prim Perfect magazine, as well as those you know and love!
This month’s theme is Gardens, and we have advice for those wanting to create gardens and some gorgeous places to explore.
In addition we’re looking at two major events associated with Relay for Life—Fantasy Faire and the Home and Garden Expo (so maybe you’ll take the opportunity to follow through on some of our suggestions!).
Honour McMillan gives some advice on creating a virtual garden, while Aisling Sinclair explains the importance of (and proper ways to go about) working with ground textures.
I had the opportunity to talk with two doyens of the garden—Lilith and Dolly Heart of the Heart Garden Centre—and learn what lies behind their phenomenal success over the last seven or more years.
In addition, Honour McMillan takes us through a history of gardens, with some beautiful examples of all the different eras that she discusses.
We’re looking at gardens in other parts of the magazine too. In our continuing series on building your own home, our designer (and phenomenal builder) Winona Wiefel will be teaching you how to create a second storey in the basic skybox that you created in Parts 1 and 2 of the series. In keeping with our garden theme, she adds a roof garden for good measure!
Qwis Greenwood, in the third of our series promoting small business around the grid, has found two very different designers creating some beautiful plants for your garden—and more!
We’re near the start of some big events. Beq Janus looks back to the wonderful Fantasy Faire, while Ethan Westland looks ahead to the upcoming Home and Garden Expo.
We also have the third in our major series on Mesh. Beq Janus explores how you can create mesh objects using simple inworld tools—and once again there are samples to experiment with!
Rosamoo Mendelsohn brings us a 101 Guide to starting to hunt, while there are details from our TV shows, Designing Worlds and Happy Hunting!, available on Treet TV.
Our team of talented photographers, led by Judith Lefevre, Beq Janus, Winona Wiefel, Wildstar Beaumont, and Honour McMillan, bring you some of the most artistic eye candy from across the metaverse.
