Our visit to the art galleries and installations of the University of Western Australia in Second Life is now available on the web – with a chance to see some of the beautiful and evocative creations that have resulted from the art and machinima challenges issued over the last few years.

Guiding us round the build is Jayjay Zifanwe of the University of Western Australia (in real life Jay Jay Jegathesan, Physics UWA) who takes us on a tour of the Second Life version of the University, and shows us the winners in this year’s challenges for art and machinima, as well as some fascinating work from this year and earlier challenges.

It’s a fascinating show as we look at how the University has become a major centre for virtual world art from all around the world -n and learn a little of the impact that has had on the real life University and individuals too.

Sunset on Gilmour

Sunset on Gilmour

Today’s jigsaw is another photograph by Honor Macmillan, one of three that she took when we were asking for your stories of how you met in Second Life.  A goodly group of people shared their stories with us, and you’ll be able to read more in the next issue of Prim Perfect, which will be out at the beginning of February.

And if you’d like more jigsaws with a virtual world flavour, the Metaverse Magic blog is starting to feature some stunning pictures made into jigsaws too!

This jigsaw is a rather unusual shape, and you might find it a little tricky … so … enjoy!

If you’d like to submit a photo of your own to feature as a jigsaw, send it to the Prim Perfect Flickr Group. It should be sized 800w x 600h, or else it will need to be re-sized.

Temasek

Temasek

To accompany yesterday’s Designing Worlds programme (which is now available on treet.tv), we have for today’s jigsaw one of the beautiful photographs of Temasek by Wildstar Beaumont that were featured on the show.

Temasek is a representation of Singapore in the virtual world of Second Life, owned and conceived by Veritas Raymaker, to give people a taste of Singapore old and new – with elements of the history, culture, geography and economy of the island state. We had great fun – and learned a lot – exploring the island. We hope that you will too!

But before you view the programme … here’s a jigsaw to tackle!
