Last night I spent a couple of hours exploring a stunning new art installation – Tyrehl Byk’s ‘Almost Flat Land’ at LEA 13. It’s been reviewed – Rowan Derryth has written about it on this blog, and Inara Pey has also explored it.
It’s stunningly beautiful, as I hope the two jigsaws for today (yes, count ’em – two!) will show you; there’s also a narrative here – a narrative that may depend on your own thoughts and experiences. Although there is a diary that might guide you, there is also ample room for your own interpretations of what you are seeing.
I moved through being fascinated, intrigued, shocked … to finally being deeply moved.
At different points I thought of Uccello’s The Hunt in the Forest (one of my favourite paintings of all time – and it lives in my home town!) and of The Sparrow. And I am very grateful to Tyrehl Byk for sharing our exploration!
Your own journey may differ!
I told Tyrehl about my plan to create jigsaws – I think he was intrigued by the idea of adding another layer of mystery and discovery to his work!
So … first jigsaw:
That was in classic style. So now, let’s try something a little different:
Catch up with your Prim Perfect jigsaws (showing images of Second Life and other virtual worlds).
If you’d like to submit a photo of your own to feature as a jigsaw, send it to the Prim Perfect Flickr Group. It should be sized 800w x 600h, or else it will need to be re-sized.
