Join us at 2pm SLT today, Monday 30th January, for the new episode of Designing Worlds at our studio in Garden of Dreams, when we’ll be visiting the beautiful estate of Rosehaven, which has recently celebrated its tenth anniversary.

Perhaps the name may be a little unfamiliar to you? That is because until recently, the estate was known as Winterfell, a name it took in 2016, long before a certain television programme had made the name widely known.

We talk to the estate owner Selena Anansi about the reasons for the name change, and about why her voice sounds strangely familiar!

Rosehaven is a estate of mystery and romance, with some dark undertones. We take a look at builds old and new (including some new mews cottages), and discuss the different aspects of this lovely fantasy estate. We visit some of the residents in their homes – including Elizabeth, the Duchess of Trikassi, Mr Podruly Peccable and our very own Wildstar Beaumont who was one of the very earliest residents of the estate!

And we take several tours of the waterways to see some of the magnificent castles and other builds.

As we go we talk about roleplay as opposed to lifestyle, and talk about the role that storytelling plays in Rosehaven.

We can promise you a really lovely show so do join us to watch it at 2pm SLT.

Join us at 2pm SLT today, Monday 23rd January, for the new episode of Designing Worlds at our studio in Garden of Dreams – for the first show in the new season, when we’ll be paying a visit to Virtual Ability.

We’ll be hearing from Gentle Heron, one of the three founders of Virtual Ability, how the Iasland – and the nonprofit – came to be founded, and something of the design principles that underlie the islands, making them accessible to many kinds of disabilities. And we’ll be learning how they support new residents coming in to Second Life too.

In the Doctor's Study

In the Doctor’s Study

Season Two of The Blackened Mirror continues today, Sunday 8th December, at 2pm PST/SLT, 10pm GMT and 5pm EST.

The opening episode took Quinn and his companions to a strange laboratory which seemed to have a profound impact on Quinn – and then brought them face to face with the mysterious Doctor. What secrets are hidden in the Asylum – and is there any safety, even beyond its walls?

In the Asylum

In the Asylum

This animated series, created in a virtual world, brings together elements of film noir, steampunk, classic Lovecraftian horror – and more – in a standalone ten-minute show.

The first season took Quinn from his seedy office in 1930s America to a history that never was, and on to strange worlds as he awoke trouble from his past; trouble that hit him at home, trouble that forced him to face the evils of his youth. The means was Miss Alleyn’s: a strange device known as a Resonator that turns any mirror into a door across dimensions, enabling the possessor to travel wherever they may wish to go, leaving no more than scorched glass to mark their passing.

In season two we discover more of Quinn’s dark past and the origins of his chilling doppelganger, learn what becomes of the friends he left behind in Seraph City and see the price that comes with secret knowledge, leaving one of our heroes with a terrible choice that must be made…

Find out what happens next in Season Two of The Blackened Mirror!

You can also see the show on the web on the Treet.TV Blackened Mirror Channel, on The Blackened Mirror channel at Aview TV, on The Blackened Mirror YouTube Channel. It will also be shown live on Metaverse Week in Review!

If you are in Second Life, you can join us to watch and discuss the show at The Crescent Theater in Seraph City, The Designing Worlds studio on Garden of Dreams or at the Prim Perfect Head Offices on Pointe LaRue Isle.

Designing Worlds Terms of Service show Part 1

In this first installment of a two part show, we are joined by Jilly Kidd, of the writer’s group Written Word, Chic Aeon, artist, machinimatographer, builder (past tense), blogger, store owner and curator of LEA7 – the Machinima Open Studio Project; Ramses Meredith, owner of the leading fashion brand Egoisme; Cain Maven, designer and owner of Maven Homes and Quantum Luxury Homes; Kylie Skyborne, Council Facilitator and Press for UCCSL & Curator for the Rose Theatre Galleries; and Jamie Bryce Infinity, a technology lawyer who started on Wall Street and now is the general counsel of an internet standards organization – in Second Life, he has served on the SL Bar Association board of directors, and has been involved in a number of virtual world intellectual property and privacy disputes.

They outline the problems that are caused by the changes for different communities.
