The latest episode of Designing Worlds – a very special show, dedicated to Elicio Ember and a special event called Filling the Cauldron – is now on the web!

Elicio’s father has suffered a major stroke, and the family is struggling to meet medical costs associated with his treatment. Since then various groups of people have been putting together ideas, and we’re pleased to announce that we now have THREE ways in which people can and will be able to help Elicio and his family.

Today’s show is therefore a repeat of the show we made last year about Elicio and his work, and his wonderful region – Cerridwen’s Cauldron, a place well worth exploring and at that time newly updated! But we’ve given it a special introduction to explain the situation, and what YOU can do to help.

And full details are also printed at the bottom of this post.

So please join us for a beautful and very special show at 2pm SLT.

Or – if you can’t attend in person – tune in to the web at 2pm SLT on Monday for a showing on SLartist – or catch it later in the week on the SLArtist.com channel, the Aview TV Designing Worlds channel – or on the Designing Worlds blog.

Today, Sunday 29th January, we are delighted to have two fantastic two sessions of Meet the Designer, and then Meet the Community Talks in the Auditorium on SL11B Fascinate (on Stage 2).

Meet the Designers

Meet the Designers

First of all, at 2pm SLT on Stage 2, back by popular demand, the team of leading Second Life designers that is Mesh Creative. They will have hints, tips, information and ideas – not least about keeping Second Life going while eagerly anticipting the new grid.

Sadly, our 4pm Meet the Artist talk has had to be cancelled.

Meet the Community

Meet the Community

But at 5pm SLT on Stage 2, we will be talking to Elizabeth Tinsely of Fantasy Faire, who will be talking about the ways in which Fantasy Faire has grown from an idea into and event and now a community. Fantasy Faire is one of the most loved annual events of the Second Life calendar (rather like the Birthday) so come along and find out all about it!

How do I find out more about the SL11B Community Celebration?
You can find out more by following the official blog, and by following on Facebook and Twitter.

There is also a Flickr page where you can paste your own images when the sims open. You make see some sneak images from the team before that so keep watching!

Or you can get the Guide – on the web or inworld.

This year we have been running two contests – one for Photographs of the Faire, and a Story Story/Poetry competition too. Both these contests will close at midnight today (May 31st).

In the Photographic Competition, we are looking for the photographs that best capture the spirit of the sims – and the winners will be included in a calendar (with credits for the photographers) that will be created in real life using Cafe Presse and sold to raise money for Relay for Life. So this year, people really will be able to take the Faire home with them – and share it with their friends and family too!

You can find full details of the competition here (and note that the deadline was extended from May 11th – May 31st).

For the short story/poetry competition, the top entries will be published in the summer issue of Prim Perfect magazine, coming out in September 2014.

You story/poem can focus on one region – Sanctum, or Hopes Horizon or Heavenslough, for example – and ignore all the others. Or you might use the juxtaposition of two regions, or even draw on more of the Fairelands, as a whole vast realm, perhaps surrounding an inland sea. It’s up to you. And your story or poem can be sad or happy, wise or witty. It can make us laugh, cry, gasp, nod with agreement … or do all of these things by turns.

But we must have it by midnight today!

You can find full details of the competition here,

You can now see the second of our two shows about Fantasy Faire on the web.

This week we looked at the beautiful regions themselves … and talked to some of the designers: Marcus Inkpen (Blackwater Glen), Elicio Ember (The Faery Court), Jaimy Handcroft (Hope’s Horizon), Kayle Matzerath (Wiggenstead Mooring) and Beq Janus (Asperatus).

You can now see the First of our two shows about Fantasy Faire on the web.

In this special show we look at some of the events that will be taking place over the course of the Faire.

We talk to Elizabeth Tinsley, the Faire organiser, about plans for the event (which opened on May 1st and is now in full progress), and to David Abbot about Fantasy Faire radio, and the fabulous Hunt. We also hear from Amethyst Dovgal about the ballet, and from Samantha Ohrberg about the exciting photo contest – where the winning pictures will be included in a real life calendar that will let people really take the Faire home!

Hopes Horizon

Hopes Horizon

Finally we talk to some of the groups of roleplayers who have added a wealth of interactive stories to this year’s Faire! We’ll be meeting the Pirates of Blackwater Glen, the Rickety Weasels of Wigginstead Mooring and the NeoVictorians of Asperatus.

The Faire is coming to an end, but there is still time to visit today, another whole week to complete the amazing Hunt – and also time to enter the special photo contest and the short story/poetry competition.
